And finally, I can show you this. The freshly squeezed new campaign that I shot for my sister from another mister… Yes, yes, you guessed it right. Of course it’s for Jovana Filipovic.
Now, instead of going into an extensive rant about the stunning, yet glamorous simplicity and the timeless wearability of the pieces in these images, I want to tell you a little bit about how we shot this.
It was Sunday May 8th, about 9 in the morning, when Filipovic and I got together to scout locations for the shoot that was scheduled to start at 2PM. Yes, we decided on the model in advance (Angela Karova), and we had a makeup artist in place (Darko Mishovski), but the location part – well, we weren’t quite ready on that front just yet.
But fortune favors the bold, isn’t that what people say? Turns out, it sometimes really does.
So we had a cup of coffee and started our quest, only to realize that it is the day of the Skopje Marathon, which is pretty much that day of the year in this city when the traffic is completely, and I mean completely blocked. No passing through. Almost no cabs. Just happy people running.
But fortune favors the bold, right, so we didn’t stop. We somehow managed to find a cab willing to take us to this one spot at Vodno, which I was told was a secluded, photogenic, retro heaven. And, as it turns out, it really was. It was a jackpot in the editorial location-lacking city of Skopje.
Now how do we convince the hotel managers to allow us to shoot an 8-hour editorial on the spot? Well, when you’re dealing with people as nice as that, it’s not that challenging at all.
And boom, we were given our permissions, our Aperol Spritzes, and we were good to go all day long.
